Abruzzo is a very varied region that offers tourists the possibility of moving in a short time from the coast to the foot of the Gran Sasso and the Maiella, through a hinterland rich in panoramas, folklore, traditions and history. For over a third of its surface, Abruzzo is protected by National Parks and by a dense network of nature reserves and oases. The Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park represents a large green lung rich in plant and animal species. Between the mountains and the sea, Abruzzo
offers a rich choice of works of art and monuments: Romanesque churches and castles, ancient necropolises and museums, hermitages and fortified villages. The four provincial capitals: L'Aquila, Chieti, Pescara, Teramo and numerous other cities, which in ancient times played a decisive role, preserve treasures of art and history, archaeological remains, museums, cathedrals, castles, aqueducts, fountains, etc., which testify to a continuous activity on the sea, in the fields, on the mountains.
